Beijing became China’s capital during the Yuan dynasty some 800 years ago. The Forbidden Palace was constructed in the following dynasty, Ming. The moat protecting China’s former centre of power was completed in 1420, close to 600 years ago. This spot has become a tourist favourite to take photos.
